Jimmy Barnes Party

We’ve had a very busy couple of years, and have definitely fallen behind in telling you about some of our epic parties! To make up for it, let me tell you about one in particular.

Pass The Party’s very own matriarch, Cathy celebrated a milestone birthday not too long ago. So of course we had to plan an epic party to celebrate. We knew we had to keep it old school with a traditional garage party, but for this very special lady we had to have a very special theme, so we took inspiration from one of her greatest loves; Jimmy Barnes! We starting planning to host the greatest rock show ever, but the theme was hush hush, we wanted to surprise our birthday girl on the night.

The Space:

The walls of the garage were draped in black cloth to create the interior of a dingy venue. One wall was covered in large white sheeting to use as a backdrop for the projector, and we repurposed our brick wall from the Harry Potter Package to create a photobooth, a gig poster wall complete with personalised posters along with a mini Marshall stack and of course a guitar.

We hired in bar leaners and set up trestles for bar service and a grazing table to keep everyone fuelled for the night.

Atmosphere:

We created a dream line up of classic acts to play on the projector; Queen, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and of course the headliner, Jimmy Barnes. These were played through a great stereo, so the guests could sign and dance along all night. The icing on the cake, personalised wooden spoons to use as microphones!

The Details:

We reckon the little details make the party, and this one was no exception. We printed custom gig t-shirts for the ‘crew’ (Cathy’s family), and created custom lanyards for all the attendees, VIP ones for our guests, CREW for the family, SECURITY for Cathy’s grandsons and TALENT for the birthday girl herself.

We invited the guests to dress in their best rock attire, and they did not disappoint! There were a few mullet wigs, I’ll tell ya.

The birthday girl loved the theme, everyone had a great time and it was a rockin night, complete with more than one John Farnham sing along.

And yes, we did invite Barnesy, but sadly he couldn’t make it.

Rock n Roll!!
