It’s been a little while since our last update, we have been very busy working on a rather special event over the last wee while – my wedding! Obviously being a Pass The Party event, we had to include all the bells and whistles. We’ll tell you more about some of those later on, including how we made our own biodegradable confetti, and how we styled our fab bar carts. For now we wanted to tell you a bit about how we styled the venue.
Although
we didn’t want the wedding to be heavily themed, we did want to give it
a thematic style. One of the first things I chose for the wedding was
the music. For the ceremony I had always wanted 1960s girl groups – The
Crystals, The Supremes, The Ronettes, and so on. Naturally then, the
style would be ‘60s inspired’, and with the reception music being
Merseybeat and British invasion groups (The Hollies, The Beatles, the
Kinks and so on), the emphasis was definitely more mod than hippy!
Like all Pass The Party projects, once we had the idea, the next
step was of course the mood board and our colour palette. This helps to
define the vision for the event, and the colour palette ensures all the
elements will work cohesively once they’re all together on site.
The other element I knew I wanted was a monogram. Using our colour palette, my lovely friend Anna By Design created our gorgeous monogram, which we introduced in our invitations and then included in our signage, printed coasters and swizzle sticks. I also painted it onto a faux leather jacket I wore later in the evening.
One of the reasons we chose to hold the wedding at the family farm was because of the stunning view. To optimise on this, we chose a marquee which had clear sides and kept the décor inside the marquee relatively simple, opting for elegant table settings of white table cloths, pure white candles and simple greenery.
We carried that theme through the bar leaners, tying the tablecloths with white satin ribbon and adding the same long leaf gum leaves. Our show-stopping red couch and vintage armchairs created a cosy corner for our guests to relax in.
The cake table, which was originally the Groom’s grandmothers was adorned with white flowers, more gum leaves, candles and my Grandfather’s camera. We invited our guests to write us a message on a vintage-look postcard and leave it in our vintage flagon case.
Finally of course, the Vespa! We parked the ultimate symbol of 1960s mod culture by the entrance to the marquee, garnished her with sweet white flowers and voila! The perfect selfie station for our guests.
It really was the best day ever and we have to thank our family, friends and of course the fantastic local businesses who helped bring it all together!
